The service

Dropclips is operated by Yann Kost, Frobenstrasse 72, 4053 Basel, Switzerland. You upload video clips, choose or build a pipeline of steps, and get the processed files back as a download. There is no editor and no hosting: results are kept for 48 hours and then removed.

25 credits for up to 3 clips

Your account

You start with 25 free credits and can try up to 3 clips without an account, as long as their quoted cost fits within your remaining credits. To run more clips or buy credits, sign in with your email address and a six-digit code we send you; there is no password. Signing in does not renew the trial allowance. You are responsible for what is done through your account, so keep access to your mailbox to yourself.

You can delete your account from the account page once running jobs finish. Deletion does not automatically refund remaining credits; request any eligible refund before deleting your account.

Credits and prices

Runs are paid with credits. Credits are bought in packs, never expire, and there is no subscription. A new account starts with 25 credits.

A clip costs 1 credit per run when the pipeline only changes quality, format, trim, sound, rotation or speed, and 2 credits when it has a Crop, Blur, Reframe, Logo, Captions, Intro or Outro step; add 1 for each extra aspect ratio and 3 for captions. These are the step prices per started 2 minutes of the clip's full length: a clip counts once per started 2 minutes, also when the pipeline trims it. Thumbnails, subtitle files, saved pipelines and the zip download are free.

For unusually large files, or for a pipeline that produces many outputs, the quote can include a processing adjustment on top of those step prices. It reflects what processing that clip costs us — the file is read and written by the render service, which bills us by the gigabyte — and it is always shown in the quote before the run starts.

Runs, quotes and credits back

Before a run starts you see its exact total in credits, with its step prices and any processing adjustment listed separately. That total is the most the run can cost you, and it is charged when the run starts. When the run is finished:

• A clip that failed is not charged: its credits come back in full.
• A clip in which no speech was found gets the credits of the captions step back.
• A clip never costs more than its quote.

Every movement of credits is listed in the ledger on your account page.

Your files

Your clips and results stay yours. We use them only to run the pipeline you chose, and we delete them 48 hours after the run finishes. Download what you need before then; we cannot bring files back afterwards. How files are stored and who processes them is described on the Privacy page.

You confirm that you have the right to upload and process the clips, logos and fonts you use, including the rights of the people who appear in them.

What is not allowed

• Uploading content that is illegal where you or we are, or that you have no right to use
• Trying to get around the limits, the free clips or the credit system
• Automated use that burdens the service for others
• Reselling the service as your own without an agreement with us

We may lock an account that does any of this. Running jobs finish; new runs and sign-in are blocked until the matter is settled.

Withdrawal, liability and law

Withdrawal and refunds of packs

You can request a voluntary refund of unused purchased credits within fourteen days of purchase, provided the amount to refund is at least €15. The refund is based on what you paid for those credits and is returned to the payment method used. This voluntary policy does not cover the €9 Small pack on its own. We may agree to other voluntary refunds in individual cases, such as a prolonged outage.

The €15 minimum and the fourteen-day limit do not apply to refunds required by applicable law, including any statutory withdrawal or defect-related rights, or to the closure and terms-change refunds promised below. These rights are not limited by this voluntary policy. Spent credits are otherwise not refundable, apart from the automatic credit adjustments described under "Runs, quotes and credits back". We may change these terms or stop the service altogether. If we do either, we give at least thirty days' notice by e-mail to the addresses with unused credits; if we stop the service, or if you do not accept the new terms, the unused credits are refunded.

Liability

We are liable for damage we cause by intent or gross negligence. For anything else our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event, and we are not liable for indirect damage such as lost profit or lost data, to the extent the law allows such a limitation. Nothing here limits liability where Swiss law does not allow it to be limited.

Keep your own copies of what you upload: results expire 48 hours after a run finishes, and original clips follow your pipeline’s retention setting. Saved assets and recovery backups have separate retention periods described in the privacy policy. Dropclips is not a file archive. It is also not made for content where an error in a caption could cause harm, such as medical, legal or safety instructions. Check such captions yourself before publishing them.

Governing law

Swiss law applies, without its conflict-of-law rules and without the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. The courts at our seat, Basel, Switzerland, have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, the courts that mandatory law gives you remain open to you.

These terms are written in English; the English text is the one that counts.
